In late July of 2017 I set off with the crew from Denver's Friends of Mine and Otterbox for a 27 day, 'round the world shoot, tracking a single iPhone being used by 7 individual people in 7 separate cities around the world. Each city was a new user, a new Otterbox case and a new story to tell. With only 2 to 3 days in each city, it was a constant hustle to get through customs, feel out the locations and meet talent; making for one of the most fun months of work I've had in a long time!
Our first stop was in Deadwood, SD where the Days of 76 Rodeo was just getting started. We met with Nate Jestes a professional bull fighter and all around bad ass to see was bull fighting was all about. Nate is responsible for keeping the cowboys safe once they fly off the bull, which is done by getting the attention of the bull and keeping it away from the downed rider. It was pretty amazing to watch him throw caution to the wind and get right in there where all the action was happening.
Stop 2 was Mexico City where our host and talent, Aly Villegas gave us a first hand tour of the colorful culture that abounds in Ciudad de Mexico! A TV host for Univision, Aly loves the camera and likes to have fun where ever she goes.
Stop 3 was Brooklyn, New York, where we got to experience first hand the amazing culinary stylings of Chef Bao Bao. Channan, better known as Chef Bao Bao has been tauted as "one of the most badass chefs in Brooklyn" by the Thrillist and it was apparent by her approach to preparing food.
Stop 4 found us in the wilds of Iceland with Adventure Photographer, Kylie Fly. Kylie is passionate about getting out of the city and telling the stories of the people and places she visits through her vibrant imagery.
Stop 5 landed the crew in Paris, France to hang out with outdoor adventurer and model, Bastien Grimal. The amazing architecture of Paris mixed with Bastien's wild and dynamic styling made for a fun couple days of shooting.
Stop 6 was a wild run through the hustle and heat of Hong Kong with photographer and advertising guru, Elaine Li. Hong Kong is a wild and busy city with people packed into every available space; with a passion for the people and architecture, Elaine made this stop one I will never forget.
Stop 7 land us back stateside in San Francisco, California with abstract artist Heather Day. Heather's paintings are taking off in the art world and she was kind enough to take us through her process using nature as her inspiration.
All of this wouldn't have been possible with out an amazing client and crew. A Big Thank You needs to go out to all the production companies we worked with, AC's, and hosts that made themselves available to work with us... and of course, the talented editors and creatives that put their time into create these spots.
